The upgrade to Jefferson Lab’s Continuous Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF) is part of a $338 million construction project. The facility upgrades will provide research capabilities from 6 GeV to 12GeV. More specifically, it will be used to research hadronic matter, where scientists probe the interior of the nucleus to study its properties. The construction work encompasses renovations to the 67,000 SF Applied Research Center. Additionally, it includes an extension to the main CEBAF. As a result, the facility totals 140,000 SF. Precision’s specific scope of work included the cost analysis of the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection.
